Retention keeps track of all the account files you have for your client. The software breaks it down into years for the type of account you are looking at. So, if you’re looking at a client’s Tax Prep account, the Retention section will show how many Tax Prep years the client has. If you’re looking at a Bookkeeping account, it will display how many Bookkeeping years the client has.
Filters and Display All Billable Amounts #

By default, only the account you are in and the accounts that have something open will display in this section. Open items can include things like: Events, open Balances, and open Account Documents.
Show All Years – This checkbox will display all the account years for the Business Type you are looking at.
Show All Business Types – This checkbox will display the account years for all Business Types.
Display All Billable Amounts – This button will display all the billable amounts for the account years listed. The billable amounts are found in Billable column.

Actions – Contains buttons for Account Documents , View
, and Account Notes
. Clicking each icon will take you to that specific part of the account file. For the account year you are viewing, only the Account Documents icon will display.
Year – Displays the year of the account.
Name – Displays the client’s name.
Spouse Name – Displays the name of the spouse.
User – The name of the Account User found in the Account Information (Overview) section.
Status – The last open Event Status of the account. Events that are open will be highlighted yellow.
Balance – The account year’s balance.
Transactions – Fields that display the Fee (DR), Discount, and Payment (CR). By default, these fields are collapsed but clicking on them will expand the section.
Referral Type – The referral type assigned to the account year.
Site – The name of the Site attached to the account year. Only applicable for ATOM users that have multiple Sites.
Billable – Displays the Billable amount computed by the account year’s billable events.
Totals #
The bottom of the page has totals for Retention, Client Referrals, Fees, Discounts, and Payments.
Retention – A running count of the account years for the Business Type you are viewing.
Referrals – Tracks the accounts that the client has referred to you. Contains a link that, when clicked, will take you to the client’s Referrals section.
Fee (DR) – Displays the total Fee amount across the account years.
Discount – Displays the total Discount amount across the account years.
Payment (CR) – Displays the total Payment amount across the account years.
